All work and no play makes Meg a dull girl…
Organizations
I really enjoy working with organizations that share my desire to strengthen communities. Over the years I have been involved with several area organizations in some capacity or another and I plan to continue to do so as long as I’m able!
Mad River Glen Co-op – Board Member – The Co-op’s mission is “to forever protect the classic Mad River Glen skiing experience by preserving low skier density, natural terrain and forests, varied trail character, and friendly community atmosphere for the benefit of shareholders, area personnel and patrons.” Elected by the shareholders in March 2018, I have two more ski season in my term and can run for re-election in 2021. Mad River Valley Chamber of Commerce – Marketing Committee – The Chamber of Commerce is a membership organization dedicated to improving the economic vitality of all the Valley businesses through cooperative efforts that benefit its members and greater business community. This includes being an information resource for residents and travelers.
Mad River Path Association – Member – SIPtemberfest annually supports the Mad River Path Association and their mission is to build, maintain, and conserve a system of continuous public pathways from Warren to Moretown to foster a healthy community by connecting the people, businesses and special places of the Mad River Valley.
Skills
A Jill of many trades, I strive to perfect what I know, learn something new and repeat. I believe that learning new tricks is imperative to success and only makes room for more ideas, more fruit, more fun.
Writing – Armed with a “Student Press Pass” and the confidence of a 19-year-old, I got such a thrill out of getting into Fenway Park for a Red Sox game to ‘cover the story.’ But it was immediately clear I preferred to write about experiences and emotions, not the box score; writing was my passion, not reporting. Today I channel the skills I learned as a journalism student into writing content for my assorted web pages and social media outlets, press releases for events, articles for local papers, and perhaps most importantly, communicating important information with large numbers of people in a clear and efficient manner.
Photoshop – I am a self-taught Photoshop “hack” and have created numerous graphics for clients and myself, including posters, print ads, brochures, menus and more.
Short Videos – Maybe it’s a combination of my love of writing and my hack-skills with Photoshop, but being able to tell a story with this medium is something I really enjoy. I’ve made videos both for clients, but also for myself. Have a look!
Loves

Skiing – I’ve been skiing about as long as I’ve been walking at my home away from home, Mad River Glen. Here I have taught telemark and alpine skiing for over 25 years. I’m also an MRG Shareholder and currently serve as the Vice President of the Board. Growing up with this sport has turned me into a ski-gear-nerd which led to my gear-testing work with Backcountry Magazine.
Craft Beer – My friends in the craft beer industry have taught me not just about beer, but about producing a product with care and devotion and the noticeable difference it has on the end result. I’ve found the craft beer industry holds a lot of parallels for what I aim to accomplish with my own work. My goal is always to create events with individuality and purpose, that are enjoyed for specifically what they are – relatively small, unique and of the utmost quality.
Sid Vicious – In February 2002, a 3 month old puppy that I later named Sidney, bounced over to me at a shelter, put her paws on my legs and said “I’m going home with you!” And that was that. Sixteen years later, this past March, my furry partner in crime passed away. 😦 But her spirit keeps me balanced by making sure I remember to love unconditionally and get outside daily for a little exercise.
